Windsor Windows Settlement

Submit a Claim - Claim Instructions

If you are an individual or entity in the United States and you are a previous, current, or subsequent owner of a Qualifying Structure with certain Pinnacle and Legend Series windows manufactured by Windsor between January 1, 2000 and January 5, 2018, then you may be eligible for payment from this Class Action Settlement. To receive payment you must file a Claim Form. Claim Forms can be submitted online through this website, by email, or mail. All Claim Forms must be submitted or postmarked no later than January 15, 2019. If you fail to meet the deadline, your claim may be rejected and you may be precluded from any recovery from the Settlement.

Before you start your Claim Form, please review the Claim Form Appendix here and review the Qualifying Products here. These provide vital information to help you successfully make your claim.

Please read through the following very carefully, as it provides information on the kind of documentation you will need to provide.


Proof of Ownership


  • Copy of the Deed; OR
  • Mortgage Statement; OR
  • Tax Bill; OR
  • Copy of Public Record from Office Where Deed or Mortgage Was Filed; OR
  • Other Relevant Documentation
  • If the the Qualifying Structure is a Condominium, Townhome, Apartment, Co-op, or other multi-family structures – Proof of ownership/responsibility for Windows.
  • If you are a Representative of the Owner - Documentation that proves you are the representative and have authority to act on behalf of the owner.

Window Product Identification Documentation


  • Product Identification: Photo of the window with glass code, or Manufacturer's label found in the spacer of two panes of glass, or AAMA Label
    1. Needs to show that the window is a Pinnacle or Legend Series window.
    2. Needs to prove that the window was manufactured by Windsor between January 1, 2000, and January 5, 2018.
    3. Needs to be labeled with the window ID (if you file online, that ID will be generated for you).

Note: This needs to be provided for EACH window you are claiming damages on.

Window Damage Documentation


  • Photo or video of EACH qualifying window and the qualifying damage.
    1. Qualifying Damage to the Sash - Visible wood rot to the qualifying window sash that is contiguous to any potential leak path.
    2. Qualifying Condition to a Window Frame - Visible wood rot to the qualifying window frame other than the sash that is contiguous and has been caused by water intrusion by the window itself.
    3. Needs to be labeled with the window ID (if you file online, that ID will be generated for you).

Note: Evidence can include staining, discoloration, and/or deterioration. Staining or discoloration alone, however, is not sufficient to support a claim.


General Claim Documentation


  • A photo showing the street number or address of the Qualifying Structure
    1. This requirement can met by providing ONE of the following:
      1. A photo of the mailbox with the Qualifying Structure in the background; OR
      2. A photo of the house number on the front of the Qualifying Structure; OR
      3. A photo of the house number on the curb with the Qualifying Structure in the background.
  • Exterior photo of each side of house containing a claim window.
    1. The windows in each photo must be labeled using the window ID (if you file online, these IDs will be generated for you).
    2. You need only provide one photo per side, even if it has more than one window.

Other Documentation


  • Additional Damage:
    1. A bona fide estimate to repair the Additional Damage.
    2. A photo or video of water damage to walls, drywall, insulation or other home or building materials caused by water intrusion caused by a Qualifying Window itself.
  • Prior Repairs:
    1. Documentation that you paid for such repairs or replacements.
    2. If applicable, documentation that you have been partially reimbursed for such repairs by Windsor and/or any other source (Ex. your insurance).
    3. A sworn, notarized statement that you have not been fully or partially reimbursed for the repairs or replacements by Windsor and/or any other source (Ex. your insurance).
    4. A sworn, notarized statement from the contractor who performed the repair or replacement demonstrating that: (1) the repair or replacement at issue was the result of Qualifying Damage or Additional Damage; and (2) the Qualifying Damage or Additional Damage was caused by window failure rather than by faulty installation or maintenance or some other cause.
    5. Photos or videos demonstrating that Qualifying Damage or Additional Damage existed prior to the repair or replacement of Qualifying Windows.

General Instructions


Photo should be taken with sufficient light so that the photo adequately portrays the necessary information. Remove/pull back any objects which block the view of the Qualifying Window or the wall above, below, or 12 inches to either side of the Qualifying Window (e.g., furniture, belongings, blinds, curtains, other window treatments, plants, etc.).

If possible, it is also a good idea to place a sticky note or some other sign indicating the window number taking the picture (if you file online, these IDs will be generated for you).

Documents need to be clear, readable copies. No materials submitted to the Settlement Administrator will be returned to you.

If you are filing online, each file you upload can be a max of 20MB and in the following formats: jpg, jpeg, gif, tif, tiff, png, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, zip, txt, mht, rtf, msg, eml, mp4, m4v, 3gp, 3g2, mov, mpg, mpeg, avi, webm, flv. You are allowed to upload as many files as you need.

Please use the following naming conventions for your files as best you can. Make your labels as clear as possible as it will help with claims processing and reduce errors.

  • Proof of Ownership: "Proof of Ownership" (ex Proof of Ownership.jpg)
  • Window Product Identification Documentation: "WindowID_Identification" (ex 459_Identification.png)
    This needs to be done for ALL windows you are claiming (if you file online, these IDs will be generated for you).
  • Window Damage Documentation: "WindowID_Damage_PictureNumber" (ex 16_Damage_1.tiff)
    This needs to be done for ALL windows you are claiming (if you file online, these IDs will be generated for you)
  • General Claim Documentation: "StreetAddress", "Exterior"
  • Other Documentation Examples: "AdditionalDamage_Estimate", "PriorRepair_Receipt"
